The General Carabineer Inspectorate has a new head. This is Dumitru Scurtu, who currently serves as deputy commander at the institution. The appointment was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.

Minister of the Interior Adrian Efros said that Dumitru Scurtu studied at “Dimitrie Cantemir” Police College and later at the University of European Studies of Moldova. “He has been working in subdivisions of the Ministry of Interior since 1999. In the period, he held various executive positions, including administrative ones. Starting with 2021, he has served as deputy commander of the General Command of the General Carabineer Inspectorate - a period during which he achieved notable achievements in maintaining, ensuring and restoring public order,” noted the minister.

Since 2022, he has fulfilled the duties of the commander-general. Dumitru Scurtu was appointed head of the General Carabiner Inspectorate for a five-year term.

The position of commander of the General Carabiner Inspectorate fell vacant after Stefan Pavlov quit in December 2022.
