The General Assembly of Prosecutors that was set for November 19 was postponed by a decision taken by the Superior Council of Prosecutors on November 11 in connection with the pandemic situation, IPN reports.

Council member Andrei Roșca said the response to an inquiry made to the health authorities says that the municipality of Chisinau remains on red alert. Therefore, the events with physical presence are banned. Even if the law allows holding assemblies in a teleconference format, there are no regulations that would enable to organize the event this way.

The General Assembly of Prosecutors will be transferred to another date that will be decided later by the Council. All the procedures for organizing the event arranged for November 19 were suspended.

This is not the first time that the Superior Council of Prosecutors puts off the General Assembly of Prosecutors. Attempts to call the General Assembly of Prosecutors at the end of last May and also last June were made, but they failed.

The agenda of the General Assembly was to include the election of members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors and substitute candidates and of members and substitute candidates of the three subordinate boards. Earlier, the Council’s chairwoman Angela Motuzoc said the mandate of the Superior Council of Prosecutors ends this December. The members of the three subordinate boards had their terms extended until the election of new members, which was to take place on November 19.

The current members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors were elected on November 17, 2017.
