GDP growth represents 5% in January - June

According to the information provided by the National Statistics Bureau, in the period from January to June 2006, GDP summed up about MDL 18.7 bln, increasing by 5% in comparison to the corresponding period of the last year. Industrial enterprises of all forms of property produced, in the mentioned period, goods estimated at MDL 14.9 bln at current prices, the rate of the industrial outcome being of just 93% compared to the similar period of the last year. Agricultural production, in all categories of farms, was of MDL 10.6 bln, representing 96% against last year’s figure. Investments in fixed capital from all finances sources realized in national economy were of circa MDL 5 bln, of which 2.7 bln were construction works, and the growth represented 16.9% and, respectively, 22%. In the period from January to September 2006, retail sales totaled MDL 16.2 bln, marking a 5.3% growth, due to the increase by 10.2 % in sales of consumer goods. Paid services provided to the population in the mentioned period reached the value of MDL 6.4 bln or by 3 % more. Exports of goods are estimated at USD 718.6 mln, decreasing by 8.2%. The trade balance resulted in a deficit of USD 1,124.7 mln, by 296.7 mln more (35.8). The average monthly salary of a worker in national economy from January to September amounted to MDL 1620, by 29.2% more than in the corresponding period of the last year. In the Budgetary sphere the average salary was MDL 1404, and in the real sector of the economy – MDL 1735. According to the National Agency for Labor Force Employment, on October 1 2006, the official number of the unemployed was of more than 24,000 persons. The number of unemployed defined in conformity with the criteria of the International Labor Office, in the third trimester, was of above 90,000 persons. In September 2006, inflation rate against August was 1.1%, and against December 2005 – 9.1 %.
