The Russian gas giant Gazprom is ready to examine possibilities of decreasing the price of the natural gas supplied to Moldova. The issue was discussed in a meeting of Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the head of the Gazprom Board Alexei Miller in Moscow, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
Alexei Miller said the relations between Gazprom and Moldova are good, stressing that the company is the co-owner of SA “Moldovagaz”. As to the contract for the supply of gas, Alexei Miller said he is open for a constructive dialogue for the benefit of both of the sides. He stated there are a number of problems that must be solved until the signing of the new contract. “I’m ready to personally become involved and to meet every time we need in order to find a solution,” said Alexei Miller.
For his part, Vlad Filat approved of Gazprom’s readiness to have an open dialogue so as to resolve the existing problems. “Today’s meeting was a very useful one. It helped us to better understand the current situation. We will surely have meetings and will identify an acceptable solution,” he said.
The current contract for the supply of gas between Moldova and Gazprom expires on December 31, 2011.
