The Gaudeamus Movie Theater located on Vasile Alecsandri St in Chisinau is to be demolished and a new building is to be erected in its place. The new building will also house a movie theater on the first floor, but there will be apartments on the upper stories, deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said in the February 1 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, quoted by IPN.
Nistor Grozavu said that both the movie theater and the land on which this is located are privately owned. The owner proposed a project according to which there will be cinema halls, offices and commercial areas on the lower stories and apartments on the upper stories.
The green areas and the monument situated in front of the Gaudeamus Movie Theater will be fully kept. The project is being examined and will be placed on the website of the Chisinau City Hall.
