MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG is to deliver, starting February 14, natural gas for the Transnistrian region up to the border with the Republic of Moldova. From here, Moldovagaz is to deliver at most 3 million cubic meters of gas per day to the left bank of the Nistru, IPN reports.

"According to a short-term agreement, gas supplies to Moldovan residential consumers will start on February 14, 2025. We are delighted that we identified a solution that contributes to the country's energy security. This achievement was possible only with the crucial contribution of the relevant transmission system operators of the EU, Ukraine and Moldova," reads a press release from the Hungarian company.

By decision of the Commission for the Emergency Situation, the Government allowed the transit of gas from the border with the Republic of Moldova to the Transnistrian region on the basis of a contract signed by Moldovagaz and the Hungarian company MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG. The transit costs will be paid by Tiraspoltransgaz in advance. The solution was identified after the left bank of the Nistru refused the European Union's offer of €60 million to overcome the energy crisis. The Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky announced that the region will pay for gas with funds from a Russian loan.
