The gas tariff could have been one of the economic bombs that would have exploded, if the leadership of the Russian Federation had not met the requirements of President Igor Dodon to reduce the price for gas delivered to our country. The statement was made during "Glavnîi vopros" show on NTV Moldova by Ernest Vardanean, member of the Commission for mass-media and communication next to President, IPN reports.
According to him, the gas tariff could have been increased even last year, but before the February elections, the Democrats decided to be nice and not to do so. Now, the current government and the population have to cover this difference between tariff and expenditure. "They were nice during the elections, they relinquished power, but we - the population and the ruling coalition - have to face it. This is one of the economic bombs that could have exploded, if the Russian leadership had not met the demands of President Igor Dodon and an adequate governance had not been established," said Ernest Vardanean. The member of the media commission says that there is currently no risk of a sudden increase in the gas tariff, which should have already happened last year.
According to Ernest Vardanean, at present the Russian Federation expects from the Republic of Moldova predictability and internal consolidation. "One does not exist without the other, in our current situation," said the member of the media commission. Chisinau is expecting from Moscow further openness and readiness to meet the requirements of the Republic of Moldova in certain situations.
Fadei Nagacevschi, advisor to the Speaker of Parliament, believes that the stage when authorities could carry out a unilateral foreign policy is over and it is encouraging that the current government is open to discussions with both the East and the West. At the same time, Fadei Nagacevschi says that there is an openness on the part of the Government, as well as the Parliament and the Presidency regarding the Transnistrian settlement. "Any concept that is proposed will have to be consulted thoroughly with citizens because it should be clearly understood," says the lawyer.
