Gas pipe catches fire in Chisinau

A gas pipe started to burn in Chisinau on Tuesday morning. About 130 persons were evacuated from a building located nearby.
Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that the accident happened on Columna St in Centru district at about 10.20.
Two firefighting vehicles traveled to the scene. The firefighters evacuated the employees and clients who were inside the head office of a bank situated in close proximity. There were removed the concrete blocks that could damage the pipe even more.
The police blocked access to the area and diverted the traffic. Officials of the Emergencies Service are monitoring the situation.
