Gas cylinder cause of Jumbo mall blast – Department for Emergencies

The explosion that occurred yesterday evening in the shopping mall Jumbo was caused by a 5 litre gas cylinder, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Department for Emergencies, the cylinder exploded in a café called Slaveanskii Traktir. Twelve people who were celebrating St. Valentine’s Day in it suffered various bodily injuries, including skin burns, being rushed on ambulances either to the burns centre or the Emergency Hospital. In handling the case, prosecutors and the police are trying to establish who was to blame for the blast. Preliminary investigations showed that the owner of the café was more than once warned and even fined for using the gas cylinder without proper authorisation. This time, criminal proceedings could be initiated against her.
