Gaik Vartanean was excluded from the parliamentary group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists. In the December 15 session of Parliament, he said that he will sit as an independent MP, IPN reports.
“I filed an application to leave the group and this was accepted. I will sit in Parliament as an independent MP and I want to thank my mates from the Bloc for accepting my decision. I want to wish everyone success in the adoption of laws for the country’s benefit. I state that I am ready to support any bill that is for the benefit of the people and the economy of the country, both those coming from the opposition and those proposed by the parliamentary majority,” stated the MP.
In this connection, MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity Dumitru Alaiba noted he was hopeful that there would be no defectors in the current legislature. “But it wasn’t meant to be, regrettably. We have a swallow. I don’t know if it is the first and if more will follow. Mister Vartanean, I think your explanation is insufficient. Society should know the reason why you decided to make this rather strange move, to which we got used in the previous Parliaments because there were many such moves. You are the first renegade and I congratulate you on this and I also congratulate mister Ceban, (e.n. mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban) on this acquisition,” said the MP.
The press reported that MP Gaik Vartanean decided to leave the Party of Socialists and to join the party “National Alternative Movement” launched by Ion Ceban.
