Gaguzia's head of legislature proposes another compromise on graduates who failed Romanian exam

Anna Harlamenko, the chairwoman of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, sent an open letter to Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Minister of Education Mihail Sleahtitchi, proposing a new compromise on the Gagauz graduates who failed the Romanian exam, Info-Prim Neo reports. Anna Harlamenko suggests they should be admitted at the State University in Comrat, where there are 40 places without tuition fees for which nobody has applied. The students would repeat the exam in the next year’s baccalaureate session. The letter stressed that this solution would calm tensions in society and will allow the students to continue their studies without leaving Gagauzia or even abroad. On Monday, August 9, Prime Minister Vlad Filat met with Gagauzia's Governor Mihail Formuzal, with whom he reached a compromise regarding the graduates who failed the Romanian exam. They would be allowed to study not only in professional schools, as previously announced, but in colleges as well. Filat later announced that the decision also applies to graduates from other districts who failed one of the exams.
