This Sunday, voters in Gagauzia will have to choose between the Shor Party’s Yevgenya Gutsul and Grigori Uzun, supported by the Socialist Party, in the second round of the autonomy’s gubernatorial election.
The 65 polling stations in 26 towns and villages will open at 7:00 AM and will remain so until 9:00 PM.
For the second round, the autonomy’s electoral body ordered 93,572 ballot papers, at 0,69 lei apiece: 3,617 in the Gagauz language, 3,230 in Romanian, and the rest in Russian.
The central electoral body registered 79 international observers for the election.
No electioneering or other campaign activities are allowed on election day and the day prior. This does not apply to content already published online and adverts posted earlier.
The outgoing Gagauz governor, or başkan, Irina Vlah is not eligible for re-election after serving two consecutive terms.
