Twenty-two members of the Gagauz autonomy's legislative body were elected in last Sunday's run-offs, joining the thirteen People's Assembly members elected in the first round a fortnight ago. Gagauz Election Commission chair Svetlana Mironova has told Info-Prim Neo that over 50 percent of the eligible voters cast votes. The second round saw no major violations, Svetlana Mironova doesn't rule out the possibility that complaints could be filed, but they won't have the potential to affect the outcome. The People's Assembly is now composed of 25 independent members, 7 Communists, 2 Liberal-Democrats, and one Socialist. The members of the People's Assembly are elected for a four-year term. 164 candidates joined the race. 84 candidates represented parties, with most of them fielded by the Communist Party, and 80 were unaffiliated candidates.
