The Executive Committee of UTA Gagauzia is preparing a draft law that will provide criminal penalties against those who urge to abolish the statehood of Moldova. The amendment to the Penal Code will be included in article no.341 and will be developed until the end of the week. After it is approved by the Executive Committee, it will be transmitted to the People’s Assembly for adoption and then it will be sent to the Moldovan Parliament as a legislative initiative, Info-Prim Neo learned from the official webpage www.gagauzia.md. A decision in this regard was approved on Monday, July 23, at the meeting of the Executive Committee. “Accepting our initiative will be a test for the Parliament regarding their commitment to the Moldovan statehood. If they reject the proposal, people will understand that the MP sleep and dream of being in another country. If they approve it, this will put an end to street manifestations during which groups confront each other. Gagauzia must use its right to develop draft laws”, declared governor Mihail Formuzal. According to the bashkan, last week’s unionist march in Cahul was “a deliberate causing of tensions in society”. He labeled it as pure provocation. “It’s impossible to bring people from Romania to burn some symbols in Cahul. It’s a wrong stance. People mustn’t be disturbed. They must be directed towards solving the economic problems faced by the state”, said Mihail Formuzal. On Sunday, July 22, in Cahul town, the Civic Platform 2012 Action organized an unionist march. The Party “Patriots of Moldova” and the Russian Youth League organized a counter-protest. The police had to intervene to separate the two sides.
