Fyodor Angeli launches new book

Ambassador Fyodor Angeli has launched a new book titled “Twenty Stars from the Skies”, which includes 100 poems in Romanian written by 20 authors and translated into the Gagauz language by Fyodor Angeli. The ambassador told Info-Prim Neo he had worked on the book for almost two years, believing that one can achieve something only through hard work. He said he even worked on the book on his birthday. “Children in Gagauz villages should know the culture of the Moldovan people and learn the official language”, said Fyodor Angeli. The collection includes poems by greats like Mihai Eminescu, Gheorghe Asachi, Vasile Alecsandri, Tudor Arghezi, George Bacovia, Lucian Blaga, Octavian Goga, Dumitru Matcovschi, Grigore Vieru, and Alexei Mateevici. “Twenty Stars from the Skies” was published with support from the Moldovan Democratic Party in 1,000 copies that will be distributed among the school libraries in the Gagauz autonomy already the next week. However, the official launch will take place later. This is the 9th literary translation piece authored by Fyodor Angeli. His earliest works include “Masallar” (“Fairy Tales”), featuring five tales in verse by Alexander Pushkin; “Coban yildizi-culpan” (“The Evening Star”) by Mihai Eminescu; and “Mamu, sän...” (“Mother, You Are...”), comprising 50 poems by Grigore Vieru. Currently an author, literary translator and researcher, Fyodor Angeli served as Moldova's Ambassador to Turkey, Egypt and Kuwait between 1998 and 2001.
