The National Bank on Wednesday continued buying foreign currency from banks, thus getting closer to its goal of enhancing liquidity, PhD Sveatoslav Mihalache, the director of the portal Financial Brains, told Info-Prim Neo.
Elsewhere, Mihalache says that an important event today will be the meeting of the European Central Bank's monetary policy committee, where, analysts believe, the refinance rate might be lowered from 1.25 percent to 1 percent. “Either way, the market's actors will be very attentive to what ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet has to say at the press conference following the event. They'll look for a subtext in Trichet's words and intonation in order to be able to decide what to do about the euro”, says Mihalache.
In Moldova, the currency exchange facilities will buy euros today at 14.79 – 14.84 lei and will sell at 14.98 – 15.03 lei, while the dollar will trade at 11.14 – 11.17 lei (bid) and 11.26 – 11.28 lei (ask).
