If parliamentary elections were held in Moldova next Sunday, only three parties would enter the legislative body, according to the Public Opinion Barometer presented in a news conference at IPN. Some 27.6% of those polled would vote for the Party of Socialists (PSRM), 17.5% for the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and 7.4% for the Democratic Party (PDM).
Institute for Public Policy director Arcadie Barbăroşie said the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) and the Shor Party that are now represented in Parliament would gain 3.3% and 2.9% of the vote. Almost 32% of those surveyed didn’t know how to answer or didn’t want to answer.
According to the Barometer, if presidential elections were held in Moldova next Sunday, the PSRM would poll 23.6% of the vote, the PAS – 17.6%, while the PDM – 6%. The other candidates would gain less than 3% of the poll. Almost 40% of those interviewed didn’t know how to answer or didn’t want to answer this question. About 47% of the respondents said they would vote for the representative of a political party, while nearly 40% – for an independent candidate.
Over 48% of those surveyed said there is no political entity that would represent their interests in Moldova. Over 45% said there is such an entity in the country.
Asked about the political personality they trust most, almost 15% named President Igor Dodon, 11.6% - PAS leader Maia Sandu, about 2.7% - Democratic leader Pavel Filip, 2.1% - PPPDA leader Andrei Năstase. The church, mayor’s office, Presidential Office, the army and the media are among the most trusted institutions.
Asked about the most important three problems that should be solved in Moldova, the largest part of the respondents said order in the country should be strengthened, the economy should be developed and peace and understanding between people should be ensured. Most of those polled are concerned about poverty, the children’s future and prices.
As to the direction followed by Moldova, almost 66% of those questioned said this is wrong, nearly 24% said this is good, while almost 10% didn’t know how to answer.
The poll was carried out during December 7-23 and covered a sample of 1,187 persons. The margin of sampling error is +-3%.
