President Vladimir Voronin has said Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has showed “a special interest” for the draft law on the Transnistrian autonomy, developed on the basis of the law on the basic provisions of the special legal status of the localities on the Nistru's left bank, adopted, by political consensus, on 22 July 2005. The statement is part of the appreciations the president made on his return from Sochi, where he met the president of the Russian Federation, the presidential press unit announces, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. What has been unanimously decided by the Moldovan political class – by its Parliament – should be laid at the foundation of the settlement the Transnistrian conflict, the president said. He says neither Russia has big objections as to the respective draft. Russia's intent is to put up more initiatives meant to move along the process of solving the Transnistrian issue at talks. Vladimir Voronin has pointed out that he agreed with Dmitry Medvedev as to the timeliness of enterprising some concrete measures in order to resume the talks in the 5+2 format. The president has expressed his certitude that actions in this respect will be included on the working agendas of both presidents, as well as meetings with the Tiraspol leader Igor Smirnov. Summing up the dialog with the Russian president, the Moldovan head of state has shown satisfaction as to the coordinated steps meant to resume the talks on the Transnistrian conflict. In the name of the Russian authorities, Dmitry Medvedev has said Russia will actively get involved in advancing in resuming the talks. Vladimir Voronin has specified the meeting took place according to the agreement reached by the two presidents in June, at an informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg, while the events in South Ossetia stepped up the meeting.
