Officers of the Special Destination Police Brigade “Fulger” were praised for their devotion and the risks taken daily within the missions in which they are involved. Prime Minister Pavel Filip, Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan and chief of the General Police Inspectorate Alexandru Panzari transmitted congratulatory messages in the ceremony held to celebrate 25 years of the foundation of the Brigade. A number of “Fulger” members were awarded on this occasion, IPN reports.
Pavel Filip said the event marks a nice story of deeds, courage, honor and devotion to the country. Since its foundation, “Fulger” has been at the forefront in the fight against criminality and continues to intervene in the most difficult situations. “We cannot omit also the courage and sacrifice shown during the Nistru armed conflict. They were in the front line, defending the integrity and independence of the state. We must never forget these acts of heroism,” he stated.
The Premier admitted that the salaries of the Brigade’s police officers do not match the risks to which they are exposed, but assured that the Government will do its best for the benefits to increase and wished them to have less dangerous missions.
Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan said that during the 25 years of existence, the Brigade “Fulger” faced many obstacles, but also achieved many results, becoming a professional, credible institution that works to protect the interests of the people. He noted that some of the members of this Brigade died during the war for defending the country’s integrity. A moment’s silence was thus observed in memory of the heroes who died in the line of duty.
“Regardless of the mission you have, the competence, correctness and swiftness are the benchmark values in your activity. As we aspire to become part of the EU, Moldova must have modern police with professionals. That’s why this body is permanently subject to justified transformations so as to keep it among the elite subdivisions. I express my gratitude to my colleagues who were at the necessary place to ensure peace and order,” stated the minister.
For his part, Alexandru Panzari said “Fulger” intervenes in the most difficult moments, to protect the country’s independence, to arrest extremely dangerous offenders and to restore law and order. He thanked the Brigade’s employees for the work done and risks taken daily.
The Special Destination Police Brigade “Fulger” was founded on December 5, 1991. In 2012 it was awarded the Order “Stefan cel Mare”.
