Fuel stations displayed new prices. A liter of gasoline or diesel fuel now costs 40-50 bani more. The executive director of the Union of Oil Importers Victor Ghitu told Info-Prim Neo that due to many factors, the companies had been selling at a loss lately. Victor Ghitu said that came to the end of their ropes because the latest rise of all costs of buying and selling fuels. Over the last three weeks, the prices in refineries increased, alongside the unexpected growth of crude oil prices. A ton of gasoline in Romania now costs $1140-$1160, and a ton of diesel fuel- $1100, considering that the leu depreciated, whereas fuels are bought in US dollars. “The oil barrel prices and rankings are rising intensively and don’t allow the importers to sell the fuel at the old prices. It’s also because of the events in Iran, which affect all the countries”, explained Victor Ghitu. The union director brought the example of Italy, where the price of a liter of gasoline reached €2.5, while In France the excises had to be lowered in order to avoid tensions with the consumers. According to him, this would be a solution for Moldova as well, but it’s not even considered here. “We raise the prices a little only for those who buy fuel for private transportation, but not at all or only slightly for farmers”, added Victor Ghitu. Two weeks ago, the major companies sent notifications of increased prices to the National Regulatory Agency in Energy.
