Fuel price might increase

The price for petroleum overthrows record after record on the exchange market, this situation being caused by the explosive situation in Liban. One barrel of petroleum reached on Friday the historical level of USD 78.03 in London, after it reached on Thursday in New York the level of USD 78.40. The price for gold increased by 5%, this meaning that one ounce of gold was valuing USD 651. Economic analysts say that the price for petroleum will continue to increase. They state that the maintenance of Israeli offensive in Lebanon could influence the market of the Republic of Moldova, because it imports significant volumes of petroleum. The executive director of the Petroleum Importers Union “Importcompetrol”, Vladimir Ghitu, told Info-Prim Neo that at present no price increase is planned, but in the prices will continue to run high at the international exchange markets or if they will stay at the Friday level, an increase in price is unavoidable. At the Friday quotations a tone of diesel oil cost USD 666, increasing by USD 24. The price of one tone of oil distillery petrol was of USD 783.5, by USD 31 more. The profitableness constitutes only 3% per liter, which is very little, and the diesel oil is sold by 0.07 lei cheaper compared with the price paid by economic agents to oil distilleries.
