Frozen conflicts to be discussed at Black Sea Forum

There is a chance to openly discuss the issue of frozen conflicts within the Black Sea Forum for Dialogue and Partnership, which is to take place on June 5 in Bucharest. This statement belongs to the President of Romania, interviewed by the Russian newspaper “Kommersant”.
According to him, at the forum are to be discussed serious problems of the region, fact which will contribute to making decisions in political, economic and security areas. Referring to the security matter, Basescu said that its military aspect will not be a subject of discussion, but the energetic security, and the security of the citizens etc.
“The high level meeting of the Forum represents the start of an inflow of events destined to lead to an advanced interaction at different levels. It is conducted by the countries of the region, it belongs to them and has at the same time the interest and support of the European and Euro-Atlantic Community” says a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.
As well, the Forum will facilitate identifying the junction points between the investment projects, scientific researches, regional initiatives and politic processes, through a series of different activities. The forum will help the Black Sea countries to anticipate and solve quickly and efficiently the potential problems. On medium-term, the Black Sea Forum for Dialogue and Partnership will allow passing to a proactive vision on the common future of the region, shifting more and more the gravity center from “anticipating” to “prefiguring” and “planning”.
The presidents, heads of Governments and Foreign Ministers from the region, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and high officials of the EU and NATO member states, EU, NATO, OSCE, Council of Europe, BSEC representatives and also of the think-tanks and NGOs from the region, Western Europe and North America will attend the summit.
In a press-release of the presidency is announced that the head of state Vladimir Voronin will participate at the Forum and will present a speech referring to the importance of stirring up the regional cooperation processes in the Black Sea region and organizing the actions linked to the European perspective of this region’s countries.
