The heavy rain that fell on May 24 caused havoc in a number of communities in Moldova. Sections of roads and crops were damaged. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, roof slates were removed from a number of houses in Unțești village of Ungheni district. A local road was seriously destroyed in Rădenii Vechi village.

In Cahul, the rain affected crop fields in Giurgiulești and Câșlița Prut. Local road sections were flooded in  Slobozia Mare. In Cotovscoie, Etulia and Cișmichioi of Găgăuzia, there were damaged roads and crops. About 24 ha of vineyards and 23 ha of cherry and plum orchards were affected in Cișmichioi. Local press in southern Moldova reported that the streets were covered with hail and many yards were flooded. Villagers complained the bad weather caused considerable damage to them.

Employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies continue the works to reinforce levees near the Nistru River. Trees and bushes were felled on a distance of about 4 km near Crocmaz towards Tudora so as to allow the specialized vehicles to perform levee reinforcement works. Rescuers and carabiners put sacks of sand on the levee near the stadium in Crocmaz.

A cell crisis involving experts of a number of state institutions was set up following the rise in the level of water in the Nistru and Prut to manage the situation.
