The 2021 World Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament is taking place in Sofia. The Moldovan male and female freestyle wrestlers failed to qualify for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, IPN reports.
Nicolai Grahmez (65 kg), Mihail Sava (74 kg) and Piotr Ianulov (86 kg) scored by a victory, but didn’t manage to qualify for the quarterfinals. In the women’s competition, Irina Rîngaci (68 kg), Mariana Cherdivară Eșanu (62 kg) and Mariana Draguțan (50 kg) were eliminated after the second fight at the qualification tournament. They were defeated by Adela Hanzlickova of the Czech Republic, Veranika Ivanova of Belarus and Argentina’s Patricia Alejandra Bermudez.
The Greco-Roman wrestlers entered the competition today. Victor Ciobanu (60 kg) beat Fouad Fajari of Morocco, while Daniel Cataraga (77 kg) lost to Bulgaria’s Aik Mnatsakanian.
