The freedom of the media is a mandatory condition for developing the economy and attracting investments to the country. In a market economy, the media outlets are those that reveal all the corruption-related problems, considers the aspirant for the office of President Artur Croitor. In a news conference at IPN, this called the mass media the ‘tongue, ears and eyes of the people’.
According to Artur Croitor, the mass media market in Moldova is monopolized. Ideally, all the media outlets should belong to journalists, not to representatives of the political class. Where there is no freedom of expression, correct decisions cannot be adopted.
Artur Croitor also said that the journalists who disclose corruption schemes must be protected by law and special rights must be guaranteed for them so that they are not detained and arrested.
The applicant considers the national economic system does not contribute to the development of business. The system is created so as to obtain money from the business sector, while the businessmen ultimately have to place the burden of costs on the people. This system must be replaced and the green light must be given to the small and medium-sized businesses.
According to Artur Croitor, a business development program is needed to train those who want to start businesses. When finishing these business schools, the graduates must benefit from a state loan with very low interest. Also, the people who start a business should pay taxes only when they earn the first incomes. “In our country, the enterprise only started to work, but already owes money to the state,” he noted.
Artur Croitor’s slogan for the election campaign is “Consolidation of society – economic development”, while his symbol will be a stork with a branch in its beak. For now, the applicant hasn’t submitted the necessary signatures collected from his supporters to the Central Election Commission for being registered in the race for the presidency, but can do it by September 29.
