Those willing to test their blood sugar levels will be able to do so during November 14-19 on the occasion of the World Diabetes Day. Tests will be offered free of charge at family doctors’ centers and medical associations in Chisinau, as well as at the Heath Center in Cahul and the Family Doctors’ Center in Balti, IPN reports.

The National Health Insurance Company said in a press release that a launch event will take place on November 14 at the entrance to Valea Morilor Park, where tents will be set up to test visitors’ blood sugar levels and inform them on how o prevent and control diabetes. On the same day, glycaemia tests will also be given at a shopping mall in Chisinau.

Anyone can solicit the tests, but people in at-risk groups are particularly encouraged and these include people over 40 years old, overweight people, those with cardiovascular, endocrine, liver or pancreatic conditions, and people who have suffered from Covid.

The NHIC stresses the importance of preventing and controlling diabetes. Measuring blood sugar is the best way to detect the disease in time and keep it in check before complications develop.
