A number of 99 persons from the municipality of Chisinau benefitted from free dental prosthetic services so far this year, out of the total 253 invitations issued in this regard. A sum of 4.5 million lei was earmarked in the 2020 municipal budget for the purpose. As many as 751 persons were offered such services in 2019, at a cost of 3.1 million lei.
In a response to an inquiry made by IPN, the Chisinau General Health and Social Assistance Division said the free dental prosthetic services are intended for older persons, recipients of pensions set and paid by the National House of Social Insurance, persons with severe and accentuated disabilities, labor and war veterans, participants in the combats in Afghanistan, participants in the war for defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, rehabilitated persons and other categories of people, including those who were awarded honorable mentions and state orders or in unforeseen emergency cases.
The invitation to benefit from such services is issued to persons with the residence in the municipality of Chisinau who form part of the aforementioned categories and have the medical conclusion concerning the necessity of dental prosthetic medical assistance issued by the family doctor. The document must be valued for a month since its issuing. The monthly pension of the potential beneficiary should not exceed 3,000 lei.
To benefit from the service, the person must go to the Municipal Stomatology Center situated at 3/2 Negruzzi St in Chisinau to file an application to the commission for assessing the allocated financial resources and distributing invitations for benefitting from free dental prosthetic services.
The commission convenes monthly. Currently, the waiting list of the Municipal Stomatology Center includes 1,500 persons.
