The persons’ access to cemeteries in the municipality of Chisinau will be permitted starting from May 9 until 5pm, mayor general Ion Ceban informed after the meeting of the municipal Extraordinary Public Health Commission, IPN reports.
However, the people who will come to cemeteries will have to mandatorily wear masks, to maintain physical distancing and not to eat food and drink alcoholic beverages inside cemeteries.
Ion Ceban noted that the Chisinau City Hall will not organize special public transport to cemeteries. The public transit will run as usual. Parking places will be set up near cemeteries. It is not allowed entering the cemetery by personal cars.
The mayor said he asked the police to make sure that the protection measures are obeyed in cemeteries.
Two days ago, Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova addressed a letter to the Extraordinary Public Health Commission of Chisinau municipality, asking this to allow the parishioners to enter cemeteries on May 9 and 10 to celebrate Sunday of the Dead, given that the number of infections with COVID-19 declined. Later, the Socialist leader Igor Dodon within his vlog said the municipal authorities of Chisinau should lift the restrictions on access to cemeteries this Sunday.
At end-April, the Extraordinary Public Health Commission of Chisinau municipality decided that access to cemeteries will not be allowed. The parishioners were urged to bring the graves in order before the Easter holidays. In 2020, access to the municipal cemeteries on Sunday of the Dead was banned.
