The Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie adopted a resolution concerning the Eastern Partnership that makes reference to the plenary support provided by the member states to Moldova’s European course. The document was adopted in Chisinau, within the Assembly’s 26th European Region Forum, IPN reports.
The head of the Assembly’s Section in Moldova, MP Ana Gutu said that this resolution was adopted taking into account the fact that at the Vilnius Summit Moldova will initial the Association Agreement, which provides for the creation of a Free Trade Area,. “It is very important that such a resolution was adopted unanimously. It is in fact a premier as it is an obliging and political resolution. All the representatives who pronounced on this resolution said that Moldova is a state with European vocation and deserves a place in the European family,” stated Ana Gutu.
The head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie’s Mission for the European Region Jean-Paul Wahl said that this meeting enables to restore the relations between the countries that share the same culture and values. “Francophonie is regarded in Europe as a cultural cause, but we do not neglect the economic aspects that are very important. First of all, it promotes the values of democracy and the fundamental freedoms,” said Jean-Paul Wahl, adding that he is pleased with Moldova’s wish to extensively integrate into the European family.
The assembly also adopted a resolution on the studying and strengthening of the French language as a language of access to Francophone knowledge.
