The French Embassy, the Francophone University Association and their partners decided to launch a contest for supporting local development projects. This is part of an international decentralized cooperation drive meant to bring together local authorities from Moldova and France, as well as their partners, in order to implement joint projects, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Southern Regional Development Agency, the focus will be on projects that harness the experience of French communities and their partners for the local development process in Moldova, especially those concerning the transfer of skills via specialized trainings or seminars. Priority will also be given to organizations that mobilize other community actors such as universities, small businesses, clusters, healthcare institutions, local associations, the diaspora in France, professional federations and others.

Projects that favor balanced involvement of men and women are especially welcome. Gender balance will be required in invitations.

The applications must be written in both Romanian and French. The deadline for electronic submissions is September 15, 2017. The selection will begin on September 18 and the announcement of results is scheduled for September 22. The financing contracts will be signed no later than September 29.

The project activities will begin on October 1.
