French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna, at the fourth Moldova Support Platform Summit held in Chisinau, announced an additional contribution of €200 million for financing projects through the agency of UNHCR, the social support program and UNICEF, IPN reports.

Catherine Colonna said that Germany, France, and Romania decided to create the Moldova Support Platform in 2022 for the purpose of offering emergency assistance to Moldova to help it overcome the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine. Since then, Moldova has received assistance and this Platform is a symbol of solidarity and support for Moldova.

The official noted that this support came in different forms, such as grant funding, technical assistance, support for maintaining the economy and social services, etc. “The situation changed considerably since we met in Paris a year ago. Moldova achieved impressive results. Nevertheless, Russia’s aggression goes on and further causes shockwaves in Moldova and Europe. Therefore, the situation remains extremely volatile,” stated Catherine Colonna.

The official noted that this brutal conflict goes beyond Moldova’s capacities and the assistance of Europe and the intentional assistance are now necessary more than ever to help the population overcome the consequences of the war and to help the economy survive and grow.

The minister also said that France will continue to support Moldova. “We continue to support Moldova in its recovery efforts, in its European integration efforts. We know that this road is full of challenges, but if we analyze what has happened until now and what support this Platform secured, I can say with certitude that Moldova will manage to cover it successfully,” opined Catherine Colonna.
