A four-year-old Chisinau boy nearly died after breaking free from his mother’s grasp and plunging into the pond at Valea Morilor Park.

Luckily the lifesavers were close by and saved the boy from drowning. He was taken to the hospital for further medical examination and care.

In two other separate incidents at the Valea Morilor lake reported recently, a 69-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man went in for a swim mindless of the risks.

The lifeguards ask the general population to strictly follow precaution rules around bodies of water. Leaving children unattended on the banks of lakes and rivers can lead to tragedies. People are asked to choose lakes that are equipped with lifeguard stations, and avoid entering rivers and lakes when there are high differences in water and air temperatures or if they have been drinking alcohol.
