A four-year-old boy fell from the fifth floor of an apartment building in Dubăsari town. It happened when the person who was taking care of him left him alone and went to the store, and the boy went out to the apartment’s balcony, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tiraspol reported that the boy’s mother is working abroad and she initially left her child in the care of her 17-year-old brother and the child’s grandmother. However, she later decided to leave him in the care of a relative, who was raising his twin daughters, students in the first grade, as his wife was also abroad.
On Tuesday evening, the man brought the child from kindergarten and began cooking the dinner. At a certain moment, he decided to go to the store while the twins were out playing. Being home alone, the boy got scared and called the girls, but these could not enter the home because they didn’t have the keys to the apartment’s door. Although they tried to calm him down, the child went out to the balcony. He allegedly climbed onto an armchair and fell down.
The boy was found lying on the ground by a passerby. He could barely speak. It is not known how much time passed between the time he fell down and the time he was discovered. The child was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery. He suffered an open craniocerebral trauma, but also severe trauma to internal organs. He is now in intensive care.
