Two minors aged four and, respectively, 13 and his grandfather fell under the thin ice of a lake when they went sledging. It happened near Misovca village of Ialoveni district on February 14. The younger boy and his grandfather aged 61 could not be saved, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the rescuers who rushed to the scene managed to save only the older boy. The boy aged four and the man drowned about 30 meters from the bank.
The Inspectorate calls on the population not to walk on the thin ice of rivers and ponds. The minors should be supervised by adults so that they not play in dangerous places.
Seven persons, two of whom children, drowned in Moldova so far this year.
