Four social shops were inaugurated in Orhei town on November 13. There, the pensioners, invalids and veterans will be able to purchase food and nonfood products at prices that are by 7-20% lower than in other retail outlets, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Orhei mayor’s office.
The social shops were set up in different sectors of the town: Centru – 12/3 Negruzzi St; Slobodca – 176 31 august St; Bucuria – 144 Unirii St, and Lupoaica – 12/3 Cupcea St. They will work daily, including on the weekend, between 9am and 6pm, with a meal brake between 1pm and 2pm.
The social shops are intended for the townspeople who form part of socially deprived groups, such as pensioners, persons with disabilities of the first, second and third degrees and armed conflict veterans. The buyers are served based on social cards that were issued earlier. About 5,500 residents of Orhei received such cards.
The opening of the social stores with money from the local budget forms part of the town administration program proposed by Mayor Ilan Shor at the beginning of his tenure.
This social project is implemented by the local enterprise “Market and Trade”. Owing to the optimization of its management, this company over the past few months managed to considerably increase its profit that was used to open the four stores and to compensate the prices of some of the products sold there.
