Four seriously injured in road accident

Four persons have been severely wounded in a traffic accident occurred on Sunday to Monday night in front of the town hall in Truseni village, Chisinau municipality. Chisinau Traffic Police Inspector Ion Roscovanu told Info-Prim Neo that the accident occurred at 2.00 am. An inhabitant of the village, aged 21, who drove a Volkswagen-Passat car, lost control of the steering and ran at high speed into a tree. The result of the impact was dramatic – four men, including the driver, suffered severe injuries, being helped out of the car by an Emergency Department special unit. A 40-year old man was admitted to intensive care at the Emergency Hospital, a 19-year old young man received leg wounds, while another young man aged 25 and the driver suffered head injuries. Another serious road accident was registered on Saturday, at around 8.00 pm on Chisinau-Criuleni motorway, nearby Ciorescu village. A 27-year old man and a woman aged 35 were hit at high speed by an automobile that left the scene. The young man suffered severe injuries and was hospitalised in the intensive care unit of the Emergency Hospital, while the woman – different wounds. Upon thorough investigations, agents of the Traffic Police managed to identify the driver. He turned out to be Alexei Moisei, aged 27, native of Stefan Voda raion, having criminal record. His car was found abandoned near a quarry in Cricova town. If found guilty, Moisei, who drove without a driver’s licence, risks facing up to 7 years in jail. On Saturday and Sunday, 11 road accidents resulting in 20 injured were registered in Chisinau. Police officers traced 67 drivers under the influence.
