Four persons aged between 17 and 32 were arrested on suspicion that they tried to rob the post office in Alexăndreni village of Sângerei district in the afternoon of March 6, IPN reports.
The police in Sângerei were informed that three individuals with balaclavas on their heads entered the post office and demanded that the female employee should give them the money. The woman managed to push the panic button and the robbers fled.
According to press officer of the Sângerei Police Inspectorate Liliana Harea, the men didn’t take anything as there was a sum of only 200 lei in the cash desk. She provided no other details about the suspects, invoking the secrecy of the investigation.
Update (5.40pm) In a press release, Moldova’s Post Office said the money taken to the post office in Alexăndreni for paying pensions and allowances is safe. The robbers managed to take only 100 lei that was on the table.
