Four pedestrians, including two children, suffered various injuries in separate traffic accidents on Tuesday, May 27, in Chisinau. According to Dr. Anatol Proca of the Chisinau Emergency Service, both children were hurt by out-of-town vehicles. The first accident involved a 6-year-old girl who was struck by a car with Straseni plates on Avram Iancu Street. The second minor, a 12-year-old boy, was injured at the intersection of the streets Pushkin and 31 August by a motorcycle with Calarasi plates. A 57-year-old female passenger of a Volkswagen was hospitalized after the vehicle she was traveling in collided with a Rover car at the juncture of the streets Stefan Neaga and Maria Tanase. Shortly after midnight a drunken man, 30, was struck by a Dacia car when he was crossing Ismail Street. The pedestrian ended up with his right ankle fractured and his face badly bruised. On Wednesday morning at 6:30 a Chisinau woman, 28, gave birth to a girl at her home on Eugen Coca Street. The woman categorically refused to be transported to the maternity ward, so a neonatal specialist and a pediatrician had to visit the mother and the newborn at home. On Tuesday and Wednesday early morning the Chisinau Emergency Service recorded 687 calls, responding to 53 cases of acute viroses, 74 cases of trauma, 2 mumps reports and 8 brain strokes.
