Four MPs of the Democratic Party (PDM) announced that they decided to leave the parliamentary group and the party. These are Violeta Ivanov, Vladimir Vitiuc, Elena Bacalu and Oleg Sîrbu. Three of them, except Sîrbu, said they will join the parliamentary group Pro Moldova, IPN reports.

“As a result of discussions held in the last meeting of the PDM’s parliamentary group, I definitively realized that we are no longer a team that can cope with the latest challenges, while the internal struggles can lead to the dismemberment of this political organization! Today, together with my colleague Vladimir Vitiuc, I decided to  respond to our former mate Andrian Candu’s call concerning the necessity of strengthening the parliamentary opposition based on a national solidarity bloc,” Violeta Ivanov posted on Facebook.

“I took note of the call made by the former mate and the current leader of the Pro Moldova team Andrian Candu concerning the strengthening of the parliamentary opposition on a common national solidarity platform. I think such an initiative is welcome during the crisis experienced now by the Republic of Moldova, in particular its health system. It is vitally necessary to combine the efforts for the benefit of society. Regrettably, together with the PDM’s team, these desiderata can no longer be accomplished. There was too much hesitation and disappointment,” said Elena Bacalu.

The first six MPs who left the Democratic Party on February 19 were Andrian Candu, Sergiu Sîrbu, Vladimir Cebotari, Eleonora Graur, Corneliu Padnevici and Grigore Repeshchuk. They created the parliamentary group Pro Moldova. Later, Gheorghe Brashovschi defected from the PDM and he was recently followed by Ruxanda Glavan.
