Four members of the parliamentary group of the PCRM – Vladimir Turcan, Victor Stepaniuc, Ludmila Belcencova and Valentin Guznac – announced that they leave the faction. “Thank God. The ship will be now lighter,” Communist MP Iurie Muntean commented on their decision, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The decision to leave the faction was made public at the beginning of Tuesday's sitting of the Parliament. According to Vladimir Turcan, the decision derived from the latest actions by the PCRM by which they admitted the non-election of the head of state and provoked early elections. Maria Postoiko, the leader of the Communist faction, said that a decision was made this morning to exclude the four MPs from the faction. Moreover, Postoiko demanded that the four MPs leave the seats in favor of the substitute candidates because their seats were the result of the work of all the 30,000 members of the PCRM. Democratic MP Dumitru Diacov congratulated Turcan, Guznac, Belcencova and Stepaniuc for leaving the Communist faction. “I said not only once that the Communist faction's non-participation in the vote will end like this. This is only the beginning. Dozens of persons, Communist councilors and mayors, already left they party as they do not agree with Communists' actions,” Diacov said. “Thank God. The ship now will be much lighter. I assure you that this does not mean the end of the PCRM, but the continuation of the dismemberment of the Alliance for European Integration,” said Communist MP Iurie Muntean. “The weight of the ship does not matter when it has a hole,” Speaker Mihai Ghimou replied. Recently, Vladimir Turcan said that after they leave the Communist faction they will become unaffiliated MPs.
