Alexandru Epureanu, Artur Ionita, Igor Armas and Semion Bulgaru will not play in the national football team’s matches in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. On January 15-20, Moldova’s squad will play against Norway, Sweden and Poland, IPN reports.
Captain Alexandru Epureanu is not allowed to leave by Anji, which decided to extend the contract with him for another six months. The team from Makhachkala aims to avoid being relegated to the second league of Russia.
Moldova coach Ion Caras is proud that the national team will meet three worthy opponents during only five days. “We never played friendlies against such powerful teams. This became possible owing to the good results achieved in the recent past. If we obtain a high score in Abu-Dhabi, we will be able to also pay against squads that qualified for the World Championship,” Caras told a news conference.
The national squad went to the training grounds in Vadul lui Voda on January 4. It will leave for the United Arab Emirates on January 12. On January 15, Moldova meets Norway at 19.00, on January 17 – Sweden at 18.00, while on January 20 – Poland at 18.15.
