Four lots laid out by the General Public Amenities Division were classed as squares after the municipal councilors voted in favor of a relevant draft decision. These are the squares “TăbăcăriaVeche”, “Mircea cel Bătrân”, the square of “Alexandr Pushkin” Museum and the square of “A.P. Chekhov” Theater.
Contacted by IPN for details, the Division’s head Ion Burdiumov said the squares were outfitted with urban furniture and were lit. There were planted trees and grass, set up alleys and irrigation systems and placed benches and garbage bins.
According to Ion Burdiumov, now that they became squares, these lots cannot be used for other purposes. Municipal budget funds totaling over 3 million lei were spent on laying these squares out.
