The Liberal Party (PL), “Moldova Noastra” Alliance (AMN), the Christian Democrat People’s Party (PPCD) and the Democrat Party (PD) announced the creation of a majority coalition in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). The constituting statement was signed today during a press conference by the leaders of those 4 parties.
PL leader Mihai Ghimpu said that the decision to create a majority coalition is the will of the parties to ensure a prodigious activity in CMC and City Hall. “There was no fighting between us, as someone tried to suggest. We discussed about an efficient administration of the City. We are not together because of the offices, but because of the responsibility in front of the citizens who voted”, Ghimpu mentioned. The PL leader said that the number of mandates in CMC was taken into consideration when distributing the offices.
AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu confirmed that the new coalition was created without conditions. “We wanted to anticipate certain things, and that is why some time was needed before announcing the creation of the majority. We are sure that Dorin Chirtoaca will be a good mayor. Having the support of experienced persons in CMC, the decisions will be made to benefit Chisinau’s residents”, Urecheanu mentioned.
Those four leaders said that this coalition will not be in any case directed against any other party but aims at strengthening the efforts to meet the demands of the voters. They recognised that the majority is limited and hope that other parties will join too. The signatories regret the fact that no agreement was reached with the social-democrats, especially with the Social Democrat Party, about the leader of which, Eduard Musuc, it was said he strived for the deputy-mayor’s seat.
“We do not want to be involved in a fight between the City Hall and Government, because the population will suffer. We hope to promote equal conditions for all the local councils by means of the interventions in the Parliament, regardless of the parties included in the majority” Leader of PD Dumitru Diacov said.
“We should determine the Government not to treat with hostility the non-communist majorities, as this is a denial of voters’ option”, leader of PPCD Iurie Rosca stated.
According to the Constituting Agreement signed by the leaders of those four parties, the parties shall respect the legal interests of the citizens and work for solving their problems; create proper conditions for the development of the business environment; attract local and foreign investments. Also the parties pledge to implement a functional market economy, spur the entrepreneurial spirit; build social homes for the disadvantaged and young families, develop the mortgage construction system, promote free competition on the construction market.
Other tasks included in the Agreement are not admitting corruption in the public administration of the Municipality of Chisinau, organising transparent and fair auctions; strengthening individual freedoms, increasing the safety of the citizen and of the family.
In addition, the agreement aims to make Chisinau Moldova’s European integration locomotive.
