Forth National Anticorruption Conference will center on prospects and progress in fighting corruption

The forth National Anticorruption Conference themed “Prospects and Progress in Fighting Corruption” will be held in Chisinau during December 9-10, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC). The conference is organized by the CCCEC with the support of MOLICO-Moldova, a joint European Commission/Council of Europe project against corruption, money laundering and financing of terrorism. The event is part of the plan of action for implementing the National Strategy for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption for 2007-2009. The organizers of the conference aim to assess the anticorruption efforts made by the local and central public authorities and by the civil society in 2008, to strengthen the anticorruption practices and set out the top priorities for 2009. The event will end with a ceremony where the most active promoters of anticorruption practices in Moldova will be awarded as part of the national campaign “You Can Stop Corruption”, carried out under Moldova’s Threshold Country Program.
