An ex-policeman was sentenced to 2 years in prison for forgery of public documents. He produced a decision on behalf of another policeman, indicating false data about the date, time and place of the illegality, the person who committed the contravention and the investigating officer who wrote the document, IPN reports.

According to prosecutors in Drochia, in June 2022, the former senior non-commissioned officer also indicated that he had drawn up the decision in the presence of a 25-year-old woman, who allegedly committed the illegality, but prosecutors established that the woman was not in the Republic of Moldova at that time.

The man admitted his guilt and the court fined him 32,500 lei and gave him a jail term of 2 years, banning him from holding public office for a period of 4 years.

The defendant had been earlier convicted of traffic of influence.
