The Prosecutor General’s Office sent to court the legal case opened against three former officers of the Ministry of the Interior’s Antidrug Division, who are accused of misuse of power and kidnapping, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor’s Office.
The three officers were arrested in February. Last December, knowing that a man intended to change his apartment situated in Bender for one located in Chisinau and pay an additional sum of US$15,000, the police officers organized a criminal group in order to kidnap him and take his money. Claiming that the documents for the exchanged apartment should be authenticated, they called the victim to Chisinau. Two of the officers arrested the man as they knew that the authorities of the breakaway republic of Transnistria took legal action against him. The former policemen are also charged with maltreating the victim. The whereabouts of the man are unknown.
The three suspects were remanded in custody. The case will be examined by the Rascani district court.
