Former PDM MP Constantin Ţuțu accused of traffic of influence

Former Democratic MP Constantin Ţuțu is accused of large-scale trading in influence. The Chisinau court, Ciocana headquarters, has accepted on Friday, September 27, the request of the anti-corruption prosecutors and ordered the 30-day arrest preventive measure against the former dignitary, given the fact that he is avoiding the criminal prosecution, IPN reports.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) mentioned in a press release that Țuțu was accused of claiming and receiving 20 thousand euros to influence prosecutors within the Chisinau municipality Prosecutor's Office, so as not to extend the term of preventive detention of a person. According to the PA, the criminal prosecution has been initiated on September 18.

If convicted, Constantin Ţuţu risks a fine of up to 300 thousand lei or imprisonment for up to seven years.

Media writes that the MP is not in the Republic of Moldova, that he reportedly left the country right after the PDM relinquished power in favour of ACUM Bloc and PSRM.
