The former director general of the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” Gheorghe Vdovyi was sentenced to six years in jail and banned from holding public posts for a period of three years for abuse of power and actions with serious consequences, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, on November 10, 2010 the offender, who then held the post of director general of “Moldsilva”, made an order to provide employees of the forestry sector with dwellings, allocating 7.8 ha of land in the forest “Aeroport” of the Durlesti forest company for the purpose.
By the same order, made with serious deviations from the legislation, the culprit instructed the director of the Institute of Forest Research and Management to plan the internal organizational works for erecting the future residential complex. In 2011-2012, the Institute spent 121,000 lei for the required works, serious damage being thus caused to the state budget.
Under the legislation on public property and the Forest Code, the publicly owned land from the forest stock can be allotted for building forest management facilities on only with the consent of the local public authorities.
The sentence is not yet definitive.
