Former judge Domnica Manole was exonerated in a criminal case where she was accused of issuing a deliberately unlawful decision. The acquittal was delivered on Monday by the Buiucani District Court, after last Friday the prosecutor dropped all charges against the former judge, more than two years of court proceedings.

Domnica Manole’s case originated in April 2016 after she ordered the Central Electoral Commission to conduct a referendum requested by DA Platform. The referendum never took place, though, as her ruling was reversed by a higher court and she faced criminal charges for allegedly being influenced by DA leadership.

Manole’s lawyer Vioreca Grecu has told IPN several courses of actions are being considered to get Domnica Manole back on the Bench, after in 2017 she was stripped of judgeship with the consent of the judicial governing body.
