Doctor Habilitate of Medical Science Gheorghe Ciobanu, head of the Medial Emergencies Department of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, died. He reformed the emergency medical assistance service in Moldova and the Emergency Medicine Institute of Chisinau that he managed for 24 years, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Health said that the prominent university professor was awarded the “Order of Honor”, the title “Health Protection Eminent”, the medals “B. M. Behterev”, “N. I. Pirogov”, the Grand Medaille of the French Academy of Sciences and “Dimitrie Cantemir” Medal of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
The administration of the Emergency Medicine Institute also transmitted a message of condolence, saying the death of Gheorghe Ciobanu is an irrecoverable loss for the whole medical system. For about 47 years, he worked with devotion and dedication to develop the national health system and to train staff for the pre-hospital and hospital emergency services.
Gheorghe Ciobanu was born on August 29, 1951.
